CYCLE SENTRY- 27-01-08

<<< previous next >>>

D70, 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5

Another from the fort on the cliffs above Newhaven. This was actually taken with my dad's D70, which I was testing as some of the photos it stores seem to end up 'corrupted'. This was very much a grab shot, as the cyclist stopped briefly and I only had time for one shot before he moved on. It's a shame that my viewpoint meant that his head overlaps with the ship (dredger?). The slightly strange thing about this shot - and the effect might not be so obvious with this smaller reproduction - is that it almost looks as if the seascape beyond the cyclist is a projected picture on a screen, rather than a real vista. Or perhaps it's just me...

Nikons seem to produce a rather metallic colours which I rather like, in comparison to the more pastel shades from my Canons. The white balance here was very much on the cool side, which I also like, although I have warmed it up just a little.

More bikes.
